March is Women’s History Month, and also Harriet Tubman’s 200th anniversary of her birthday. This month there are many cultural events in Philadelphia our team can’t wait to attend. At Philadelphia City Hall there will be a statue of Harriet Tubman to honor her, and a Sisterhood Sit-In trolley tour of black-owned businesses. Many delicious restaurants are participating in Latin Restaurant this weekend, and there’s a home show at the Convention Center the next two weekends in March.

Honoring Harriet Tubman’s Birthday

This year is the 200th anniversary of Harriet Tubman’s birth, and Philadelphia plays a special part in honoring her as the place where she found her freedom. To honor her there will be a nine-foot sculpture at Philadelphia City Hall, called Harriet Tubman - The Journey to Freedom. The sculpture is to serve as a reminder of the struggle for social justice. The months long celebration spans Black History Month and Women’s History Month. Inside of City Hall is a historical timeline of Harriet Tubman’s life, and coming up on March 26th a culture crawl trolley tour being hosted by Harriet’s bookshop visiting five black-owned businesses in Philly.

Philly Home Show at the PA Convention Center

The Philly home show is on March 18-20 and March 25-27 at the convention center. Adult tickets are $14, kids tickets are $3, and children under 5 years get in free. The event is full of inspiration, helpful tips, products, and deals in remodeling, home improvement, and decor. For two weekends you can shop and explore from over 200 exhibitors.
